TikTok Creativity Program Beta: IS IT WORTH IT? — Trial Week 2

By Kylie

In this article, we will discuss the pros and cons of the TikTok Creativity Program Beta and the results after one week of using it. Previously, I posted a video about this program, which you can find linked below for reference. Overall, I believe the TikTok Creativity Program Beta is worth it, at least for me. Here's why:

When I had a video that received 1.9 million views, I was only paid around $ 50 from the old TikTok Creators Fund. However, with a video I posted three days ago that has approximately 730,000 views, it has already generated $ 512 in earnings. This video, in particular, has paid significantly more because the viewership is primarily from the United States, which rewards higher RPM (Revenue per 1,000 views). On the other hand, another semi-viral video I made with around 330,000 views did not generate much revenue due to a lower RPM, mainly because most viewers were from South Africa.

It is important to note that the RPM varies for each video, and the average RPM displayed on the TikTok Creativity Program Beta page is derived from the average of all the RPMs across your videos. For instance, my previous average RPM was 39 cents, but now it has increased to 98 cents, practically a dollar per 1,000 views.

Concerns were raised about views diminishing after joining the TikTok Creativity Program Beta. Indeed, during the first week, my views did decrease. Previously, my average views per video were around 15K to 30K, with occasional videos reaching half a million views. However, after joining the program, my views dropped to the low thousands, ranging from 2,000 to 5,000 views per video. This drop in views was noticeable. Nevertheless, it's important to mention that some of my videos, which qualify for the program, haven't been monetized due to the requirement that at least 1,000 viewers watch the video for at least five seconds.

To maximize earnings on TikTok and predict virality, there are a few factors to consider. First, it is crucial to have a strong hook in the first few seconds of the video to capture viewers' attention. I've noticed that videos with intriguing hooks tend to perform well. Additionally, aiming for a ratio of at least 10 likes per 100 views and receiving immediate saves and comments on your videos indicates potential virality.

In terms of the viewers' location, while I still cover true crime cases from various countries, I have observed that content with a stronger connection to the United States tends to attract more U.S. viewers. For example, mentioning the "US military" in one of my videos garnered a significant response from American viewers.

Posting frequently is also crucial. I aim to post around 10 videos per day as it can be unpredictable which videos will qualify for the program and start generating revenue immediately. If you run out of original content, consider repurposing existing videos by adding photos and speaking over them, as long as the video reaches the one-minute mark.

However, it seems that reposting viral videos for additional virality within the TikTok Creativity Program Beta is not possible. Attempting to repost older content resulted in it being flagged as unoriginal and not eligible for monetization. If there is a hack or workaround for this, I am still exploring it.

In summary, the TikTok Creativity Program Beta appears to be worth it, as it has generated more revenue compared to the previous TikTok Creators Fund. However, there are certain strategies to maximize earnings, such as focusing on engaging hooks, targeting a U.S. audience, posting frequently, and adhering to the program's guidelines.
