The need for effective emergency management became evident during the Wood Buffalo fires in 2016, where over 600,000 hectares of property were destroyed, and a community was forever changed. Witnessing the resources and supplies required to support such incidents firsthand in the operations center inspired the creation of EML Canada. With emergency management not being the primary focus of many individuals' day jobs, EML Canada aims to provide assistance and support by serving as an assistant or an extra set of hands to keep emergency management plans up to date and efficient.
How EML Canada Works
On one hand, EML Canada connects emergency management organizations, including municipalities, First Nations, public and private sectors, by providing a platform for collaboration, sharing of experiences, and accessing training and education resources. It becomes a hub where the emergency management sector comes together to learn and grow as a community of practice.

This database aims to simplify the procurement process for emergency management organizations by providing a comprehensive, searchable platform. From blankets to helicopters, everything needed in emergency situations can be easily found through this database.
