Creator Spotlight: Ve'ondre - Inspiring and Educating on TikTok
At TikTok, we highly value creators who are true to themselves on the platform and strive to create an environment where everyone feels confident to live their best lives. Through our Creator Spotlight Series, we aim to showcase the incredible talent we see on the platform every day. Today, we are featuring @veondre, a creator who shares original and insightful content about her everyday struggles as a Black Latinx Trans woman. She uses her platform to educate and raise awareness about trans issues, highlighting influential Black Trans women in history and celebrating her trans pride. Ve'ondre inspires others through her comedic and entertaining approach. Recently, she had a conversation with R&B singer Monica on a TikTok LIVE stream, discussing skincare, haircare routines, and the progress of the beauty industry for the Black community. We also spoke with Ve'ondre about the importance of posting content that she loves and creating a safe space for viewers to learn and feel supported.
Ve'ondre started creating on TikTok by making comedy skits and later incorporated her trans content, creating a safe space for her community and others to learn. She believes TikTok is the right platform for her content because it allows her to reach a large audience quickly and amplifies her voice as a Black trans woman. Her favorite TikTok video to date is the "Can I go to the washroom" video, which shares her story of using the correct bathroom after coming out while also providing a respectful laugh to viewers.
Laverne Cox is a Black historical figure who inspires Ve'ondre, as she considers her a true Trailblazer. Ve'ondre's advice for new creators is to post every day and create content out of love, rather than solely for views. Being a Trailblazer, to Ve'ondre, means setting standards humbly for her community and the Black/Latinx community.
Ve'ondre recommends following her best friend Rocky (@righteous.raquel), a Black creative who produces compelling content.
