I Tried Dropshipping For 7 Days
Introduction
The two most common things holding people back from making millions of dollars with dropshipping are the mindsets that (A) dropshipping is way too saturated and competitive right now, and (B) you won't be successful because of where you live. These two mindsets could not be farther from the truth, and I'm going to prove that to you in this article by bringing you along with me for a 7-Day Dropshipping challenge. I'll show you that you can dropship from anywhere in the world and that dropshipping is not only not dead but is more alive and thriving than it ever has been before. Without any further ado, my name is Nathan Nazareth, and let's get this challenge underway.
Step 1: Finding the Right Product
We need to find the right product for this challenge and ensure that you don't need to spend a single dollar when it comes to advertising. We'll take the organic route and find a product that fits these key criteria:
- The product has to add value or specific benefit into somebody's life, otherwise known as a problem-solving product.
- It needs to have a wow factor aspect that can easily be conveyed with the customer just by a simple video ad.
- The product needs to be relatively inexpensive and able to target a broad audience for easier success with organic TikTok videos.
First, I set up a burner TikTok account and scrolled through the feed, looking for dropshipping products. I found some interesting options, including grip strengtheners and a push-up board. After some consideration, I chose to go with the push-up grip due to its creative marketing angles and wow factor.
Step 2: Overcoming Location Barriers
Being in Turkey presented a challenge since I couldn't order the product from Amazon Prime in a timely manner. I decided to leverage my connections and get someone else, known as a UGC creator, to order the product and create ads. After contacting a friend and professional content creator, Tyler, we got the product and began creating video ads.
Step 3: Building and Optimizing the Store
We quickly set up the store using an AI Store Builder, which provided a base template. Afterward, we added high-quality content, optimized with video ads from Tyler, and ensured that the store had all essential elements. We focused on building a simple, converting store rather than obsessing over perfectionism.
Step 4: Creating and Posting Ads
The goal was to post two TikTok videos every day, focusing on virality first, followed by hard-selling products in follow-up videos. Tyler created various engaging videos, from using the product in a gym to street challenge videos. We aimed to consistently produce and post content that had the best chance to go viral on TikTok.
Step 5: Tracking and Results
The first few days showed steady growth with a marked increase as more videos went viral. By the end of the 7-day challenge, we generated $ 2,759 in sales without spending a single dollar on advertising. Our highest single-day sales reached $ 618.
The key takeaways from the challenge were:
- Leverage organic marketing and focus on creating engaging video content.
- Don't wait for perfection; launch with a good-enough store and iterate from there.
- Utilize connections and remote resources to overcome geographic barriers.
Here are the final results for the challenge:
- $ 2,759 in total sales.
- $ 1,771 in profit.
- An average of $ 32 per order.
- A conversion rate of 2.1%.
