Customizing Your TikTok Experience

Customizing Your TikTok Experience

We prioritize the online experience of our users, ensuring they can create and have fun while feeling safe and comfortable. As part of our Community Well-Being series, we aim to educate users on how to customize their TikTok experience using the available safety, privacy, and well-being tools.

TikTok offers a diverse range of trending, entertaining, and creative content that attracted many users to download the app. With creators from various backgrounds, you can find everything from comedy to makeup tutorials to memes. It's important to remember that what may be funny or interesting to someone else might not be the same for you, and that's perfectly fine.

While the For You feed is a great way to discover new and surprising videos, the wide diversity of content on the app can sometimes result in videos that don't align with your preferences. In this post, we will guide you on how to configure features and preferences to customize your For You feed and shape your content consumption experience on TikTok.

To establish your content preferences, simply long-press on a video in the For You section that doesn't resonate with you and tap the Not Interested icon. This will reduce the appearance of similar videos in the future. On the other hand, if you really love a video, you can long-press to save it to your Favorites and explore related content within that hashtag.

If you come across any offensive or violating content that goes against our Community Guidelines, you can report it. Our moderation team will review the content and take appropriate action. This helps us maintain a supportive and entertaining community on TikTok for everyone.

For a quicker and broader way to limit content, you can enable Restricted Mode. This option, available in the account settings, limits the display of content that may not be suitable for all audiences. You can easily enable or disable this setting as per your preference.

Parents can also enable Restricted Mode for their teens to ensure age-appropriate content. For more suggestions, check out our Parents Portal.

Remember, you can long-press on videos you don't like and tap the "Not interested" icon to see less of them in the future. If a video violates our Community Guidelines, report it. Use Restricted Mode to quickly adjust your feed. With these tools, you can personalize your TikTok feed according to your unique taste. No matter what you're into, there's always something enjoyable for you on TikTok.
