Introducing New Features to Promote a Positive Environment on TikTok

At TikTok, our main focus is to create a supportive environment for our community to be creative, find community, and have fun. We believe that part of this fun comes from engaging with content, sharing ideas, and connecting through comments. To promote a positive environment, we are introducing two new features.

Filter All Comments

The first feature gives creators more control over the comments on their videos. With the new Filter All Comments feature, creators can decide which comments will appear on their videos. This allows them to maintain a positive and respectful discussion. We understand that comments are important for community members to connect with creators, and we will continue to develop ways to promote respectful engagement.

Reconsider Posting Unkind or Inappropriate Comments

The second feature prompts people to reconsider posting unkind or inappropriate comments. We want to encourage our community to treat everyone with kindness and respect. The new comment prompt asks users to think twice before posting a comment that may be inappropriate or unkind. It also reminds users about our Community Guidelines and allows them to edit their comments before sharing.

Partnership with the Cyberbullying Research Center

In addition to these features, we are excited to announce our partnership with the Cyberbullying Research Center (CRC). We value the guidance of experts in developing policies and features. The CRC's mission is to conduct research on cyberbullying and related forms of abuse/misuse. We will be working with them to advance our knowledge of bullying on and off TikTok, collaborate on ways to better support our community members, and develop initiatives to create a safe and welcoming platform.

Creating a safe and positive app environment that allows creative expression to thrive is our priority. We will continue to strengthen our safeguards for users, provide more control tools, and listen to feedback from our community and experts.
