TikTok Launches Donation Stickers to Support Communities Affected by Coronavirus
TikTok has announced the launch of TikTok Donation Stickers, a new feature that allows users to make a positive impact by supporting communities affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Through this feature, users can directly contribute to organizations that serve various groups, including families, musicians, artists, doctors and nurses, restaurant workers, and educators.
As part of our ongoing efforts to support those in need, TikTok's Community Relief Fund has made a $4 million donation to two organizations – No Kid Hungry and Meals on Wheels. This donation will help provide food to children and families who are facing food insecurity. We have a personal connection to these organizations, as many members of the TikTok team are parents or have family members who have been affected by the crisis.
No Kid Hungry is a national campaign dedicated to ending childhood hunger in America. TikTok's donation will support their work in ensuring that children across the country have access to meals, especially during school closures caused by the coronavirus. Debbie Shore, co-founder of Share Our Strength, the organization behind No Kid Hungry, expressed gratitude for TikTok's partnership and the opportunity to reach new audiences.
Meals on Wheels is an organization that fights senior hunger and isolation by supporting community programs. TikTok's contribution to their COVID-19 Response Fund will help provide resources to keep seniors safe and well-nourished. Ellie Hollander, President and CEO of Meals on Wheels America, expressed appreciation for TikTok's support and their commitment to ensuring that homebound seniors receive the help they need.
To further support these organizations and the communities they serve, TikTok will be hosting a week of community-unifying TikTok LIVE streams called 'Happy At Home: #OneCommunity.' These streams, taking place from May 5 to May 9, will feature popular celebrities and creators, providing entertainment while raising awareness and funds. Stay tuned for more details on the talent lineup and programming schedule.
In addition to our own donation, TikTok will be matching user donations globally, up to $10 million, to these organizations and others from around the world. This matching initiative will run until May 27.
We are committed to doing our best to support affected communities during this challenging time. We invite you to join us for the #OneCommunity LIVE streams next week. In the meantime, thank you for staying safe and happy at home.
