Customizing Your TikTok Experience: Safety, Privacy, and Well-Being
As part of our commitment to prioritizing the online experience of our users, we provide various safety, privacy, and well-being tools on TikTok. These tools allow you to customize your TikTok experience and ensure a safe and comfortable environment while having fun.
Controlling Profile Visibility
Your TikTok profile reflects your personality and interests. However, not everyone wants to share every aspect of their profile. To address this, TikTok has introduced features that allow you to restrict what your friends and the public can see. You have control over what you choose to display to the world.
Keeping Liked Videos Private
Liking videos on TikTok helps the platform show you similar content that you might find entertaining. However, there may be instances where you prefer to keep your liked videos private. TikTok has added a feature that automatically sets your liked videos as visible only to you. You can change this setting at any time from your profile page.
Creating Private Videos
TikTok offers a range of video creation and editing tools to foster your creativity. While it's fun to share the videos you make with your friends and the community, there may be times when you want to experiment and create a video just for yourself. By making a video private, only you will be able to view it. To upload a private video, simply select the 'Private' option under 'Who Can View This Video' on the video posting page for your draft video. It's important to note that private videos must still adhere to our community guidelines and may be flagged for moderation.
Switching to a Private Account
By default, your TikTok account is set to public, allowing any TikTok user to view your videos and engage with your content. However, you have the option to switch to a private account in your Privacy Settings. With a private account, you can approve or deny follower requests, ensuring that only users you've approved as followers can see your content.
Editing Privacy Settings
It's important to remember that the information you include in your profile will be visible to all users. You can easily edit your privacy settings by visiting the Privacy and Safety tab on your profile page. This allows you to control what others can see and ensure a safe and enjoyable online experience.
Please note that TikTok cannot be used by individuals under the age of 13, or below the minimum age specified in the Terms of Service for your country or region.
