ByteDance Announces Strategic Reorganization and New CEO for TikTok

ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, has announced a strategic reorganization to optimize its global teams and support the app's continued growth. As part of this reorganization, Shouzi Chew, the CFO of ByteDance, has been named the new CEO of TikTok. Chew brings deep knowledge of the company and industry, having led a team that was among the earliest investors in ByteDance. He will focus on areas such as corporate governance and long-term business initiatives.

Vanessa Pappas, who has been serving as interim head, will now formally take on the role of TikTok COO. Pappas has provided strong leadership and will continue to oversee the platform's key operations. She is excited to deepen her partnership with Chew and develop an even richer TikTok platform to provide users around the world with a meaningful and entertaining experience.

Prior to joining ByteDance, Chew held senior roles in the technology and investment community. He is based in Singapore. Pappas, on the other hand, joined TikTok in 2018 after a successful career in the video platform space, including at YouTube. She is based in Los Angeles.

TikTok is the leading destination for short-form mobile video, with offices around the world. The company's mission is to inspire creativity and bring joy to its users.
