TikTok Community Raises Over $2 Million for Charity

In December, the TikTok community came together for a charity program called #CreateForAaCause. Through this program, over $2 million was donated to three special charities: DoSomething.org, Best Friends Animal Society, and Oceana. The community showed their commitment to positive change during the season of giving by creating over 2.5 million videos in the U.S. alone. These videos ranged from fun holiday-themed content to unique art and family festivities. Even celebrities like Khloe Kardashian, Nick Jonas, and Nina Dobrev joined in to raise awareness.

Thanks to the community's dedication, TikTok will be donating on their behalf to support various programs. Oceana will use the donations to protect and restore oceans by advocating for science-based policies that combat overfishing, habitat destruction, pollution, and the killing of threatened species. A group of TikTok creators who participated in #CreateForAaCause will also join Oceana on a field excursion off the coast of California to support their campaign work.

DoSomething.org will use the donations to support their "Supplies, Sealed and Deliver" campaign, which provides essential items to homeless shelters across the country. They recently partnered with Logan Browning from Dear White People at the LA Mission to support this campaign. DoSomething.org is a tech company focused on empowering young people to create social change. Their digital platform has already activated 6 million young people, making a difference offline in the U.S. and 131 other countries.

Best Friends Animal Society will use the campaign donations to support their lifesaving programs, which involve over 2,500 Network Partner groups across the country and their life-saving centers in NY, LA, Salt Lake City, and Atlanta. This organization is dedicated to helping the country achieve a No Kill status for animals by 2025.
