TikTok Celebrates Safer Internet Day with Global Campaign

Users from 14 countries and regions celebrated Safer Internet Day on TikTok, with over 1.6 million participants. As part of the #BetterMeBetterInternet global campaign, TikTok organized online safety initiatives and offline events in collaboration with local partners.

The platform launched an in-app quiz and encouraged users to create short videos with customized effects promoting positive concepts like respect, positivity, creativity, and security. These videos received nearly 3 million likes and shares within a week. Popular creators also joined the challenge, including JennyandMarco from Germany, Matdeuh and Anita_et_mike from France, and eo-qaq from Korea.

TikTok worked with safety partners to host safety-themed events in India, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Japan, bringing together stakeholders to promote positive online habits. Educational posters were distributed in schools and colleges in India to raise awareness about online safety.

TikTok's commitment to building a safe and positive in-app environment is reflected in its policies, tools, and resources. The platform has implemented measures such as restricted viewing mode, filters, and in-app reporting to protect against misuse. With a combination of content moderation technology and a global human moderation team, TikTok ensures a safe platform for users.

Safer Internet Day, celebrated in approximately 140 countries worldwide, aims to highlight positive uses of technology and create a better and safer online community.
