Reporting Self-Harm on TikTok
As part of our commitment to user safety and well-being, TikTok provides tools to report self-harm-related content. If you come across any content indicating self-harm or someone in need of help, please report it. Reporting such content is encouraged, and there will be no penalties for doing so.
To report a video related to self-harm, follow these steps:
- Tap the arrow at the bottom right-hand corner of the video.
- Tap the report icon.
- Select 'Self injury' and follow the prompts.
In addition to reporting self-harm-related videos, you can also provide support by directing fellow users to the following resources:
- National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: A 24/7 helpline offering free and confidential support. Call 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
- Crisis Text Line: A 24/7 text-based support service. Text 741741 from anywhere in the US to connect with a trained Crisis Counselor.
- The Trevor Project: Confidential crisis intervention and suicide prevention services for LGBTQ+ youth. Call 1-866-488-7386.
- National Eating Disorder Association: Support for individuals and families affected by eating disorders.
- S.A.F.E Alternatives: Resources committed to helping end self-injurious behavior.
If you believe someone is in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services right away. At TikTok, we prioritize the well-being of our users and encourage our community members to support one another. If you notice any posts or references to self-harm, please reach out and offer your support.
