My Updated Tiktok Ads Strategy for TikTok Dropshipping

Introduction

Today, I'm going to show you all how to create your very first TikTok campaign. In this article, I'll walk you through everything you need to know about creating a brand new TikTok campaign, from step one to launching it.

Step 1: Creating Your Campaign

The first thing you want to do is go to the campaign section on the TikTok Ads Manager and click on Create. We'll focus on website conversions because we want sales from our Shopify store. Name your campaign after the product you're selling to keep things simple. For example, if you're selling a "shark blanket," name your campaign "shark blanket". Skip any other optional settings for now.

Step 2: Setting Up the Ad Group

On the ad group section, I like to name my ad group "open". TikTok doesn't work well with interest targeting, so keep it broad and let the algorithm do its job. Facebook, on the other hand, works well with interest targeting, so don't confuse the two platforms.

Choose your pixel and set the optimization event to Complete Payment. We aim to get purchases, not just add-to-cart or view-content actions. Select your placement and uncheck any placements other than TikTok. Under "Advanced Settings," disable user comments, video download, and video sharing to protect your ads from potential backlash and copying.

For location, I usually select the "big five": Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, and the United States. If you don't have an agency account, just go with the United States and Canada. Set the age group to 18-55+ and leave the language option as is.

Step 3: Budget and Scheduling

I recommend setting your daily budget to something unique, like $ 20.32, to stay competitive. Schedule the start date for the next day at midnight to allow TikTok to spend your budget efficiently. Under the "Optimization Goal," choose Conversion, and for "Maximum Delivery," select Standard.

Step 4: Ad Creative

I prefer using Smart Creative, which allows TikTok to add more text variations to your video. Name your ads with initials of your product and a short identifier like "SB_VSS" for Shark Blanket Videos. Use TikTok accounts for delivery if you have a TikTok account connected to your product.

Upload three videos and add three different text variations for each offer. This will create a combination of nine ads (3 videos x 3 texts). Your text should focus on your main offer, like "50% Off Today Only", "Limited Time", or "Get Yours Today at 50% Off".

Add the URL of your Shopify product to the campaign. Even if you see a "Potential Issue Detected" warning, don’t worry; this is normal for new pixels and will go away after you get some sales data.

Step 5: Duplicating the Ad Group

To truly test your ads, duplicate your ad group to create two more versions named "open 2" and "open 3". This will help you maximize results through different audience samples. Ensure each duplicated ad group has the same scheduling and budget as the first one.

Step 6: Monitoring and Adjusting

Once you've launched your campaign, let it run and spend up to $ 25. If you don’t see any sales or only one sale by then, it's best to move on to another product. For 2-3 sales, you can let it run for the rest of the day to see if it performs better.

Conclusion

By following these steps, you can ensure that you're setting up your TikTok campaign correctly. This method has been tested multiple times, so you’ll know if your campaign isn't working because of the product, not the setup.
